What if you got to do life over?
“It’s not about time, it’s about choices. How are you spending your choices?”
~ Beverly Adamo
Wow. Close to home again. I can think of all the times I said, “I don’t have time to do that.” Actually, I was saying “I am not going to MAKE time to do that.” It IS about choices. When we say yes to one thing, we say no to another – law of physics – two things can’t occupy the same space at the same time. How do you trade one freedom to gain a better freedom…We only get 24 hours in each day. 1,440 minutes. If I choose to fill those hours with entertainment, sleep, eating, or reading, studying, adding value to people, it’s all my choice. I can choose to do one thing over another.
The ability to think and choose puts us at the top of the food chain. Separates us from ALL other living things. The problem is when we fail to look to the end and see the related consequences of our behavior, and then choose correctly. If we choose to watch TV or play video games for 2-3 hours every night, we have said yes to entertainment and no to growing in some way. Consequence? Really good at ‘Tour of Duty’ – but not realizing our passion in life… not using our gifts for adding value to ourselves and others… Ralph Waldo Emerson put it well, “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
So purpose in your mind and heart right now, to make better choices. Don’t just be blown by the wind to a decision, CONTROL the decision. Plan your day, every day. Your week, every week. If you take care of the minutes, the years won’t seem lost – where a decade can fly by in the blink of an eye. I promise you this, if you do it now, you won’t look back with regret like the 4,000 executives with an average age of 70, surveyed by Dr. Jeremy Bell. The #1 regret – “I should have taken charge of my life and set my goals earlier. Life isn’t practice, it’s the real thing.” I have chosen to not go there – to not waste my time on things that don’t benefit me in the long run. Who’s with me? Commit to it today! If you don’t do it now, when will you do it? 10 years? 20 years? Never?
MAKE it a great day! Take it by Storm!
